Women's Studies in Europe
Krakow, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Istanbul
The Women's Studies in Europe Program offers a unique opportunity to explore feminist theory in practice across Europe. The program examines the trends and dynamics of European social, economic, and political systems as they influence contemporary gender theory, policy, and women's identities.
Students attend lectures and workshops with the program director, visiting professors from European universities, not-for-profit and governmental agencies, politicians, practitioners, artists, and activists. Students attend lectures and conduct original field research in Berlin, Germany; Krakow, Poland; Utrecht and Amsterdam, the Netherlands; and Istanbul, Turkey.
Students stay in hostels, pensions, hotels, and homes. While pursuing independent research, students also enroll in additional course work that totals 16 credit hours. Saint Mary's offers the Women's Studies in Europe Program through an affiliation with nationally recognized Antioch University.
Offered each fall semester, the program is open to students with disciplinary interest in women's studies and pending approval from the Saint Mary's faculty coordinator.
