Greece Summer Program

This program is currently not accepting applications. The software for study abroad is being updated. Applications will be accepted again starting January 15, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact the CWIL office at abroad@saintmarys.edu.

Greece, the fountain of democracy, philosophy, science, and religion, is the life-source of western civilization. Although the country's classical heritage is its glory, Greece is also a modern Balkan country whose membership in the European Union serves as a crossroad between east and west. The natural beauty of Greece is experienced in the lush blue Mediterranean Sea that surrounds it and in the dry, stony mountains that fill this ancient, yet modern, land.

The Greece Summer Study Program is an 18-day program beginning in mid-May and continuing into June. The program allows students to earn three academic credits. Students immerse themselves in the Greco-Roman world of the first urban Christians converted by Paul the Apostle, while traveling through mainland Greece. Accommodations are three-star, air-conditioned hotels. Enrollment is open to students of all class years, but is limited to 20 students. Students do not need to specialize in history, religion, or a foreign language to participate.

The cost of Summer programs vary by the program. In general, you should expect to pay the standard SMC summer tuition rates, as well as an additional program fee specific to each program. Financial aid awards from Saint Mary's College will not apply to the summer session. Information on the Saint Mary's College summer student travel grant can be found by clicking HERE. All students who plan to study abroad are required to pay a non-refundable deposit which will be applied to the overall study abroad balance when abroad. Deposit amounts for Summer programs vary by the program.
