Known for its temperate climate, rich architecture, and lively cultural life, Seville is a beautiful and ancient city located in the south of Spain. Saint Mary's College has an affiliation with Spanish Studies Abroad, which has provided a unique learning experience for students in Seville since 1969.

Students have the option of participating in the following programs:
(approximate dates)
  • May term program dates: May 13  - May 30
  • Term 1 program dates: May 30 - June 20
  • Term 2 program dates: June 27 - July 18
  • Terms 1 and 2 program dates: May 30 - July 18
The Seville summer and May term programs offer a total immersion in the study of Spanish language and culture. All courses are taught in Spanish, with students taking 3-4 credits of language.  Students register for one intensive class for each term. The May Term can be taken as a stand alone program or as a great introduction to further summer study in Summer Terms 1 and/or 2. Courses include intensive language at all levels as content courses for the major or minor and Sophia requirements. During Summer Terms 1 and 2, students also have the opportunity to take one-credit 'living the culture' courses that focus on Spanish Cuisine and Dance and may also participate in study visits, cultural trips, and service learning projects. All students live with local host families.

The cost of Summer programs vary by the program. In general, you should expect to pay the standard SMC summer tuition rates, as well as an additional program fee specific to each program. Financial aid awards from Saint Mary's College will not apply to the summer session. Information on the Saint Mary's College summer student travel grant can be found HERE. All students who plan to study abroad are required to pay a non-refundable deposit which will be applied to the overall study abroad balance when abroad. Deposit amounts for Summer programs vary by the program.

Qualified applicants will have a 3.0/4.0 GPA in Spanish coursework or  3.0/4.0 GPA overall for beginner level students.  All programs in Seville require dual applications.  The online application for May and summer terms to Saint Mary's College is due March 1st, with decisions announced by March 15th. Accepted students should then complete the online application to our partner, Spanish Studies Abroad, which is due by April 15th.
