Summer Internship in Seville, Spain

This program is currently not accepting applications and will be paused through Fall 2023. If you would like to discuss your study abroad options, please contact the CWIL office at abroad@saintmarys.edu.

Students interested in completing an internship internationally have an opportunity to do so in Seville, Spain. Each internship offers the experience to gain “real-world” professional skills as well as immerse in the local culture and language. All fields of study are welcome to apply and experience an internship in this setting.

In Seville, students will engage in a 10-week program with eight weeks of an internship and two weeks of intensive language courses prior to participation with Spanish Studies Abroad.

Students must have successfully completed at least one semester of an advanced Spanish course with a 3.0 GPA in their Spanish coursework.  (If the GPA is not met, students must obtain a STRONG faculty recommendation.)

Students are placed in internship areas that align with their interests and reside with host families. Not only will students receive pertinent, relevant professional experience but they will also hone their language and intercultural skills.

Internships abroad are intended to help students expand their intercultural knowledge as well as specific industry knowledge. Students are also encouraged to utilize their internship abroad experience to inform their career choices and paths. Students will participate in an internship 32 hours per week and must also enroll in the Intensive Internship course offered by Spanish Studies Abroad, which complements the internship, as well as Spanish for the Working Environment, an intensive language course taken during the first two weeks in Seville. Students will receive up to 3 credits for the internship and 1 credit for the intensive language course. Students MUST contact their academic department regarding receiving credit for the internship in the Spring semester, well in advance of departing for Seville.

The cost of Summer programs vary by the program. In general, you should expect to pay the standard SMC summer tuition rates, as well as an additional program fee specific to each program. Financial aid awards from Saint Mary's College will not apply to the summer session. Information on the Saint Mary's College summer student travel grant can be found by clicking HERE
